The objective for this position is to develop a data quality practice to assess the quality in automatic data exchanges (e.g., algorithm bias to ensure data quality and trustworthiness of argi-data. DR6 investigates data quality and trustworthy techniques applicable.

About Host Organisation:

Airfield Estate is an educational charity in the south of Dublin. As Dublin’s Sustainable Food Hub their mission is to inspire and enable people to make informed food choices. Airfield is concerned with sustainable food production from the soil through to the consumer as well as the impact of food production and consumption on people and the environment.

Open to the public daily, their education and estate teams work around demonstrating, simplifying and communicating the story of food around which often inaccurate and conflicting information can cause confusion for consumers. They partner with academic and non-academic organisations to use food data & tech solutions to nudge the consumer towards making better food choices.

They increase Airfield’s reach and impact through accessible online and community engagement and by working with other food-related charities. On the estate there is an organic production garden, a jersey herd of cattle and numerous other livestock. All food produced on the estate goes to the onsite restaurant and farmers market to demonstrate the farm to fork story.

Recent research on the estate has looked at consumer attitudes towards sustainable food, early childhood care food settings and older people and their food literacy. They have been featured as a case study for how academia and non-academia can work together to enhance learning around sustainable food and will also be the hosts of numerous conferences this year and in the future for Human Nutrition and Dietetics and the role they can play in sustainability.

Eligibility

The applicants need to meet several requirements to be eligible for this position.

Mobility rule: Researchers can be of any nationality, but they are required to undertake physical, transnational mobility (i.e., move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment. Consequently, applicants for this position will have to move their centre of life to the greater area of host beneficiaries’ country. Additionally, researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of their host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment date. Time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention97 will not be considered for the mobility rule.

Doctoral Researchers (DRs) rule: Applicants at the date of recruitment, must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.

Criteria

  • Hold a Master’s degree
  • Meet the admission requirements of the doctorate degree program of the corresponding university of this position
  • Language Skills: Applicants should have professional knowledge in (Scientific) English language and ideally basic knowledge in the host beneficiary country (if it is in the criteria by the host beneficiary).

Employment

All Entrust DCs will be internationally recruited for a period of 36 months, will receive full-time employment contracts, will be enrolled in a PhD programme and actively participate in the Entrust Training Programme. Entrust will provide training equivalent to 30 ECTS over the duration of the programme.
The candidate is supposed to study and pass successfully numerous of doctoral courses and to design and execute an advanced research project that will constitute the doctoral dissertation
